Poe All Art Day, 2010
We will sell extra Art Day t-shirts in the mornings
before school on Friday April 30, Monday May 3 and Tuesday May 4.
Two weeks left to go, over half the car covered,
it's time for a final push! We have lots of toy cars now, but we need
more Poe students and families to decorate them. Anyone interested in
helping please join us at West Alabama Ice House on Friday night April
30 starting around 5pm. If you've never been, rest assured the Ice
House is very child-friendly. They sell hot dogs and other food so
bring the family. We will have all supplies needed to decorate more
toy cars (or bring your own special decoration items). We will also
have the big car there so that whatever toy cars get made can go
straight onto the Poe Art Car Art Car.
Poe families are also encouraged to make as many toy
art cars as desired at home and bring them to Mr. Stafford's room by
April 30 to ensure they get on the car. Any questions about art car
decoration, email Jonna Hitchcock at
jhitchco@cisco.com.
Volunteers are still needed to assist with chalk
drawings on the sidewalks out front and after-lunch party in the back
of the school. Sign-up sheets are posted at each classroom or you can
email Erika Roberts at
erikatara@gmail.com.

Poe's "Art Car Art Car" will be entry #155 in the
Houston Art Car parade on Saturday May 8. Dan Akroyd will be the Grand
Marshall this year! Any place on Allen Parkway between Taft and Bagby
is a great view, but the cars begin lining up around 10am, so you are
encouraged to come early when you can walk the length of the parade
along Allen Parkway to see the cars close up and meet the artists.
There will be a group of Poe families gathering somewhere along the
route, but we still haven't figured out a spot (probably near Sabine
bridge). Email jhitchco@cisco,com
if you are interested in organizing or participating in a Poe group
picnic and parade viewing spot.
Whether you attend the parade or not, you can vote
for Poe's car to win the People's Choice award by texting "ART 155" to
82442 on parade day. We will also be entered in the panel judging for
best youth group entry. Show your pride in Poe and be sure to wear
your Art Day t-shirt to the parade!
